The Beginning: Trudy & Joe
Moka Joe was born in Bellingham, Washington, founded by Trudy and Joe—a couple driven by one bold idea: deliver the most socially responsible organic coffee available. Roasted fresh. Delivered quick. They started deliveries on bikes, making it easier to get fresh organic coffee to people who refused to compromise on quality.
Dan & Kirsti Start Coyote Coffee
Dan and Kirsti Mendum, both 1986 Anacortes High School graduates, took a bold step into the coffee world. Dan, a commercial painter, and Kirsti, an educator, armed themselves with a roaster and a dream. They started Coyote Coffee Roasters at our current Anacortes location, where it continues to grow and thrive as its own brand with roasts depicting the Pacific Northwest.
Moka Joe Joins the Family
We embraced an exciting opportunity to acquire Moka Joe, expanding our reach and enhancing our offerings—including private label roasting. This partnership allowed us to honor the legacy Trudy and Joe built while bringing our commitment to quality and ethical sourcing to a wider community. Today, Moka Joe stands as a testament to what happens when bold coffee meets bold people.
