About Moka Joe

Who is Moka Joe?

Moka Joe is a family-owned organic coffee roaster based in Anacortes, Washington. Since 2000, we've been roasting bold, 100% USDA Organic coffee — sourced responsibly and roasted fresh, right here in Skagit County.

Where is Moka Joe located?

We're located in Anacortes, WA. Our roastery is at 8146 S. March Point Rd, and our Coffee House café is just down the road at 8152 S. March Point Rd.

What's the difference between the Coffee House and the Roastery?

They're actually two different teams! The Coffee House is our retail café — drinks, food, and daily visits. The Roastery is where we roast, package, and ship coffee, and handle subscriptions and wholesale orders. Each has its own phone number, so you reach the right team faster.

How long has Moka Joe been roasting coffee?

We've been roasting organic coffee in Anacortes since 2000 — 25+ years of bold flavor and Farmer-First sourcing.

Does Moka Joe give back to the community?

Yes! We support local youth sports sponsorships, partner with the Anacortes School District, contribute to Skagit Habitat for Humanity, and run a fundraising program that's helped local teams and organizations raise money by selling our coffee.

What makes Moka Joe coffee different?

We roast bold, never burnt — coffee with real character, not just caffeine. Everything we make is 100% organic, expertly roasted with care, and sourced through long-term relationships with farms we trust.

Our Coffee & Sourcing

Where It Comes From, Why It's Organic

Where does Moka Joe's coffee come from?

We source green coffee from select farms in Mexico, Peru, Sumatra, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua — many of which we've partnered with for years. These long-term relationships let us source exceptional beans while paying fairly and consistently.

Why is all of Moka Joe's coffee organic?

We believe coffee should be coffee — no harsh chemicals, no fillers, nothing artificial. Every bag we roast is 100% USDA Certified Organic, grown and processed without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.

Is Moka Joe coffee Fair Trade Certified?

We're not formally Fair Trade Certified, but we take a Farmer-First approach: we pay above fair-trade prices directly to the farms we've worked with for years, because we believe the people who grow our coffee deserve to thrive, not just survive.

What does USDA Organic certification actually mean?

USDA Organic certification means the coffee was grown and processed without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers, and verified by an independent certifying body. It's one of the strictest food safety and sustainability standards in the U.S.

What's the difference between a blend and a single-origin coffee?

A blend combines beans from multiple origins to create a specific flavor profile — like our Moka Joe Blend. A single-origin coffee comes from one specific farm or region, showcasing the unique characteristics of that place. We offer both.

How does Moka Joe roast its coffee?

Every batch is expertly roasted fresh in our Anacortes roastery. We roast to order as much as possible, so you're getting coffee that's days — not months — off the roaster.

What products can I subscribe to?

You can subscribe to any of our 2lb bags, 5lb bags, or MJ-Cups (available in 25, 50, and 100 counts). All of our organic coffees are available for subscription. Cold brew, Brew bags and single 12oz bags are not available for subscription at this time.
